The biggest challenge we face in the MLM industry is retention of our new associates. I remember the first two people I ever sponsored, I was so excited! I could just picture this massive team exploding under me. I remembered my sponsor saying “You get two, then they get two…”. So I spent time training them, and helping them get going.
The reality hit when neither of them sponsored a single person. They tried….they invited people to meetings, they talked to people about the products, but it was just not happening. They started asking me how long it takes to get going. I was not sure what to say since it took me 4 months just to sponsor them. The monthly autoships, training materials, and startup costs were racking up. I could feel the tension as each month passed and they did not earn money.
A few months later they both simply stopped returning my calls - and stopped their autoships. My dreams started to evaporate with them. If you have been in network marketing for any length of time, I am sure you can relate to this story.
Well, now lets look at a dramatically different way to build a MLM business, that will virtually guarantee your new associates will stay in the business long enough to get your team growing - the funded proposal system.
This is how I build my business now, and how I train my new associates to build theirs. It all starts with setting up a high quality lead capture page. Drive traffic to the capture page and start building a list of subscribers. Immediately start offering these leads a high quality information product that either you created or you sell as an affiliate. As these leads purchase this product, you make cash!
Just imagine what $300 to $500 per month can mean to a new associate on your team. It gives them immediate cash to cover their monthly autoship obligation. It gives them money to put back into more advertising, allowing them to generate even more leads next month, and more sales of the funded proposal product. Then some of these leads will begin to join your team, and you will easily be able to train these new leads to replicate this system.
The bottom line is that the faster a new associate can earn a check, even if it is outside of your primary business, the longer they will stay in business. The longer they stay in, the bigger your check will be!
So which way would you rather build your business? I would choose the funded proposal system, in fact it is the system that my team uses everyday to build our business!

So which is better, having multiple streams of income or focusing on one primary business?
If you have not seen a site like this you will. Basically it is a site that has you sign up for 10 to 15 business opportunities. The thinking being that as each new person joins, they will also sign up for all the opportunities.
This will not work long term!
Sure it works for the guy that created the system, but for you it simply will not work. Being a network marketer is hard enough just focusing on one business. Try to imagine giving the same effort spread across 15 businesses!
The best way to succeed is to focus on one business, but have a system that generates income and supports this business at every step of the process.
This is exactly what I have done, and this system now generates at least 6 checks a month outside of my primary business. But none of these income streams take my attention away from my primary business, and in fact they help to grow it at an amazing rate.
For a 14 day overview of the system I use, visit this site and sign up for the trial!

Sometimes you can learn amazing things from watching kids….
Since my son was three years old I have been generating income from the internet. He as heard me talking about making money, building web sites, and building a business.
What has happened is that he has turned into the smallest entrepreneur I have ever seen.
For example, he has started a small business in our cul-de-sac. Once a week he goes to 5 houses and picks up all the brown piles their dog(s) have left during the week - he picks up dog poop in their backyards. He pulls down $4 per house, so about $20 per week for a couple hours of work. He loves it and the neighbors are happy to pay!
But that is not really the focus of this story. You see a while back we had a garage sale in our neighborhood. This thing is massive - people come from all over to attend this neighborhood sale. Well, we had some junk to get rid of, so we had a sale as well.
He decided that he was going to sell water bottle (ice cold!) and donate the proceeds to some local victims of a huge tornado. So he made up a sign and filled the cooler with ice and bottled water.
He was in our driveway all day. Mostly sitting behind the cooler and sign in his lawn chair. He was making sales. Then one time, he got up and met someone in the driveway and said “Would you like to buy a bottle of water for fifty cents? I am donating all the money to the tornado victims.”
Guess what? The guy bought two bottles!
Emboldened by his success he started doing this every time someone walked up to our driveway. His sales skyrocketed!
In 12 hours of total selling he made $49 and sold 90 bottles of water.
I started thinking about this powerful lesson and how I could apply it to my network marketing business.
Do you see the one simple thing he did that changed the outcome of his business?
He opened his mouth and told people what he was doing. He did not rely on his sign or advertising to generate the sale. He simply told people what he was selling and asked them if they wanted to buy.
I can think of a many occasions where if I had simply opened my mouth and shared what I was doing in my business, or told someone about the product, I could have made the sale.
Wanna see a change in your business? Just open your mouth and start talking, and be sure to ask for the sale!

The other day I received a great question on my MLM blog from Marti. Marti writes:
I am relatively new to Internet marketing-less than two months. How do I build value when I don’t have a downline yet. I don’t want to go after my friends and family.
His question really struck a chord with me. You see when I first got started in my network marketing company I wanted to work completely in the “cold market” and not bug my friends and family.
So I started buying leads and calling them. I spent big bucks, and hours of time. What did I have to show for it 4 months later?
One new associate and a bank account several thousand dollars lighter.
My upline kept telling me - get on the training calls, adjust your posture, etc. etc.
I kept coming back to the same question that Marti has. How do I build value with no downline? And furthermore, how will this ever be duplicatible.
If I ever signed someone up, they would have to have deep pockets and a VERY strong will power to do what I was doing. And lets face it, some people are good at talking to others and some struggle. Sure everyone can learn, but will they learn fast enough to stay with the business.
One day I woke up and figured something out. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I mean what I discovered has totally revolutionized my business.
When I finally hit rock bottom, totally burned out from spending tons of cash on worthless leads, I stopped working on my business. I spent the next several months educating myself, learning what I needed to learn to actually make this business work.
The light bulb moment came when I decided to change the way I look at my business. You see I had never looked at it as “MY BUSINESS”. I finally stood up and started acting like a leader. I created web sites and autoresponder email series. I acted like a leader, and you know what, prospects started calling me. These were not leads that I had purchased, I had generated them myself.
Once I had them in my system, I simply showed them what it is that I do. They saw value in my system and could see themselves plugging into it.
Just because you don’t have a downline, does not mean that you don’t have value. By the way you act or speak with prospects can show them the value you bring. People want to follow a leader.
So what if you don’t know much about internet marketing? If you know anything, even the smallest bit, you probably know more that 90% of the population This is value. This is value you can bring to your prospects that are searching for a change.
The bottom line is that you don’t have to have a downline to offer value. Learn the skills that are necessary to succeed, and that becomes your value. Start out small, take baby steps, start acting like a leader today.
If all you do is tell yourself that you are a leader and you have unique skills to offer, people will start being attracted to you and look to you to lead them. Change your mindset, and good things will happen in your MLM business.

Everyday I get “pitches” from other network marketers trying to sell me on their opportunity. Typically they spend most of the time telling me how great their product is.
So do people really join your business because of the product?
Surprisingly the answer is Yes and NO!
Lets start with the “Yes” portion first. In my company I know that around 75% of the associates were product consumers before they became associates. I have a feeling that most of them became associates just to get the product cheaper - since they were using the product, day in and day out. However, they never joined the company to really GROW a business - you want new associates that will be business builders.
Now lets switch to the NO portion. People join your business, not because of the incredible product, but rather they join your business either because of you or your system.
They can see themselves working with the system you present, or your team presents. They want a business, and the product is simply secondary. Sure they might grow to love the products, and become true evangelists, but they initially joined the company because they could see themselves plugging into your system.
So now the big question is - Do You Have a System? I am not talking about the tired recruiting systems of the 1980’s - like hotel meetings, buying expensive leads, etc.
I am talking about cutting edge systems using the power of the internet to market both the business opportunity and the product. Once my team understood this, we put our heads together and developed a system that anyone can plug into and begin generating their own leads for the products and business. Our business is now exploding and we are working less!
So what magic secret did we learn that opened our eyes to these strategies and techniques? All you have to do is visit this site and get your Free Magnetic Sponsoring Bootcamp!
